Moonee Valley Urban Ecology Photo Competition

There hasn't been a post in two weeks but my right wrist has been injured making typing really difficult.

I received an email Tuesday telling me that information on the photography competition we are helping run is up on the councils website. If you live in the area of Moonee Valley it would be an awesome opportunity to have your photo viewed and compared with your peers. All photos must be taken within Moonee Valley and there are four themes that you can enter in they are Backyards, Parks and Reserves, Water and Waterways, and Streetscapes. 

Our club will be run a workshop on Saturday the 10th of May 2014. It will cover Three elements of a good photo, Getting the best out of your camera, and Composition.

Essendon Camera Course

Revamp Time

As you will have noticed this blog has been inactive for more than six months. We haven't abandoned it and forgot to take the link off the website, just no-one has had the time to dedicate to this blog. 
Our club is run by volunteers who wish to see it thrive, these being people with jobs and families. We hope this to been a source of inspiration and helpful information, in order to give you useful information time searching and researching must be spent as no-one is a encyclopedia on all things photography. 
I have taken over this blog for the club as I have the spare time for it. So I have re-done the layout and hope to post at least once a week from here on out. The posts will include links to any helpful videos, photography related events or club news as it comes up. Do go back through the old posts as I am sure there will be something interesting to find. 
Questions and comments are welcome!  I'll do my best to answer questions and if I don't know I ask someone who does.

Full moon over Wellington, NZ...

Here is something a bit random, but none-the-less astounding. A photographer captured what is, to me, one of the most remarkable things I have ever seen filmed. It is a 3 minute video clip of the full moon rising over Wellington.

  

The camera was placed on a hillside over 2 kilometres from the Lookout point.  The amount of planning, trial and error, and luck that went into this are mind blowing. He has been trying to capture this for over a year with many failed attempts. But it seems everything was on his side, and it all came together in a way even he couldn't have hoped.

Don't waste it on an iphone screen.
